Curt and Erica Yoder know first-hand the difficult and rewarding journey of adoption.
The couple has been through both the domestic and international adoption processes. After talking with some of their friends who have also adopted, the families agreed there was a lack of resources for families seeking to adopt. In 2013, Pure Gift of God was formed with the vision of filling that gap and providing families with the support they need — both emotionally and financially.
Pure Gift of God, located in Berlin, Ohio, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making adoption possible for families by providing support, spreading awareness, and raising funding to assist families.
“The financial side is a big mountain to climb when you’re looking at adoption,” said Pure Gift Executive Director Larry Yoder. “It really hinders people from adopting sometimes. We, as an organization, really want to make sure that the financial side is not a reason that someone wouldn’t adopt.”
Easing financial concerns
Because of some of these constraints, Pure Gift of God is raffling a used TAG Teardrop Trailer to raise funds for their programs including financial assistance, therapy sessions, mentor programs, and more. The TAG was first donated to Pure Gift of God in 2019 as the grand prize at their annual banquet. A Holmes County couple won the TAG, used it a few times, and donated it back to Pure Gift to raise additional funds to help Pure Gift’s mission.
The gently used TAG features a large interior bed with a stargazer window. It’s equipped with AC, heat, and comes with a radio and television. The TAG has an exterior kitchen, located in the rear hatch. It includes a 2-burner stove, microwave, sink, and fridge on a slide-out drawer.
You can purchase a raffle ticket and support Pure Gift — as well as throw your hat in the ring for a TAG Teardrop Trailer — by visiting puregiftofgod.org.
Raffle tickets for the TAG are $50 per ticket or $250 for six. Raffle tickets are limited to 1,200. Tickets are available to purchase until May 9, and the winner will be selected May 11. You must be 18 years or older and a U.S. resident to purchase a ticket.
Making adoption possible
Since its inception in 2013, Pure Gift of God has provided $1.3 million in grants. Pure Gift has had the privilege of helping 347 children find loving families and permanent homes, said Larry.
Pure Gift’s passion for adoption runs deeper than a shared thought that all children deserve to have a loving family and a place to call home. Many of Pure Gift’s team members have gone through the adoption process themselves and know the difficult journey, including the founders.
Larry and his wife also went through the adoption process three years ago. Shortly after they adopted their baby girl, the mother was pregnant again. The couple felt this baby was also meant to be a part of their family.
Larry said that adopting two babies within 10 months was a challenge, especially financially. After learning about Pure Gift’s mission, Larry was compelled to join the Pure Gift team in helping families who are adopting.
nuCamp CEO Scott Hubble, and his wife Stephanie experienced first-hand the benefit and value of having a ministry like Pure Gift in the community when they adopted their two youngest children, Priya and Quest.
“Adoption can be a long and stressful journey, especially if people are trying to figure it all out on their own,” Scott said. “My family has been blessed to have adopted twice, and both times Pure Gift of God was there playing a vital role.”
“As a company, nuCamp has been blessed,” he added. “As such, we make it a practice to support community organizations that are centered on connecting and working to make a positive impact in people’s lives.”
While Pure Gift of God isn’t an adoption agency, the men and women at Pure Gift have felt a calling to help build families and find loving homes for children. Your raffle ticket purchase will help this mission of making adoption possible.
