Who is OurFulltimeAdventure
Since the day Ashleigh and I met, we’ve dreamed of traveling frequently and experiencing life in abundance together — what better way to achieve that than living full-time on the road? What started as a 1-year journey after we got married to find our “forever home” is still going 4 years later as we re-created our American Dream and the meaning of “home.”
We are Grayson and Ashleigh, otherwise known as OurFulltimeAdventure on social media. We hit the open road in September 2020, a month after we got married. We have two pups, Brayden and Oreo, who travel along with us too. While I (Grayson) have lived in a few states before hitting the road, Ashleigh was born and raised in South Florida. We have a heart for travel and all things outdoors. If you say “outside” — and if it’s not 90 degrees and painfully humid or sunny — we’re there. What many don’t know is we met in the gym and are passionate about health and fitness as well because, after all, health is wealth!
We are full-time “content creators” or, in other words, freelance photographers/videographers. We love to capture stunning landscapes and bucket-list destinations, encouraging others to travel now because tomorrow is not promised. One of our overused quotes we like to share is, “Time is precious.”
Our Journey to Full-Time Travel
Our journey on the road was not supposed to be almost 4 years long, with no end in sight. We initially thought a road trip around the country for about a year would be sufficient to find ourselves a new home.
We were looking for 10+ acres and a nice little home to grow some roots in an environment a little less populated and flatter compared to what we were used to. Two months into our road trip, we went home for the holidays. It was November, and we broke the news to our families that we fell in love with living a more minimalistic and rootless lifestyle, intending to travel for much longer than a year.
Since then, we have driven over 110,000 miles adventuring to and through 49/50 States, Baja, and Canada. We have visited some of the most beautiful destinations we could’ve only dreamed of visiting back when we first started dating and talking about travel. We’ve picked up endless new hobbies, started our own business, and discovered our love for outdoor recreation — something we felt was lacking in our area of Florida.
Our Journey with nuCamp
Our journey on the road started in much larger RVs, 5th wheels. After around 8-9 months of travel, the idea of downsizing to a truck camper quickly grew on me, but not so quickly with Ashleigh.
By this point, we had visited around 17 states, but I knew we’d be able to see so much more in each state in a truck camper. A truck camper would give us more flexibility and allow us to travel more off-road.
Once the idea of a truck camper popped into my head, I lived on Facebook Marketplace trying to find the best deal on one. From 2020 up until recently, everything used and in good shape came with a hefty price tag. I found a 2008 truck camper at a great price, so we drove 12 hours roundtrip to check it out, and Ashleigh decided to give it a shot.
She wasn’t the biggest fan until we renovated our truck camper and made it “cute and homey.” A few short months went by, and unfortunately, we experienced a life-changing event where our home on wheels was totaled. With that event, there was a ton of trauma and PTSD involved, but we knew our life on the road wasn’t going to stop and that we were called to it.
Back to Facebook Marketplace, but this time we had new criteria with the little truck camper experience we had. The two main rules were, “It can’t look all dark and generic like every other truck camper/RV” and “We have to be able to sit up in bed.”
After hours and hours of searching each day and watching endless YouTube tours, the only camper that could meet our needs was a 2017 nuCamp Cirrus 820. The good thing about this camper was that it was only 3 hours away, and the price was right.
We drove the 3 hours and fell in love with our new-to-us 2017 Cirrus 820, and the camper’s design, build quality, and layout impressed us more than we can express. With that and after all we went through, we felt at home and safe again.
Becoming Ambassadors
With the love we gained for nuCamp’s products, their family-like owner’s group, and their service department, we knew on our trip to Alaska we wanted to capture some amazing photos and videos of our travels with our 2017 Cirrus. We both had a mutual interest in working together on this project, and enjoyed every moment of it. Upon our return, we knew we wanted to continue working alongside nuCamp to advocate and spread a love for adventure and travel in nuCamp products.
nuCamp and we both knew we had a relationship that came from an authentic place. We share similar core values and have the same goals of spreading happiness, serving others, and working hard. With that, alongside the great relationship we crafted together, we both found it to be a no-brainer to continue working together. We love the nuCamp family and their attention to detail in all they do. From customer service, nuCamp events, and carefully crafted top-of-the-line campers, they strive for better and better, and that resonates with us so deeply.
Becoming an Ambassador for nuCamp is something we would’ve never even expected when first buying our 2017 820 back in 2021. Being an Ambassador is special for us. It allows us to be a branch of the nuCamp family that continues to spread happiness to other owners while also showcasing the brand and its quality to those looking to get into camping or even those looking to travel full-time and live in the now. It’s an honor to work alongside a brand we truly love and believe in wholeheartedly.
Upcoming Travel Plans
We paired our NEW 2024 Cirrus 820 with a 2019 F450. We did this because, with our love for outdoor recreation and living on the road full-time with our two furbabies, we have quite a few items and belongings. Nothing out of the ordinary but they all take up a bit of space.
Our travel plans for 2024 include traveling around Colorado until the Overland Expo here in Loveland, CO, at the end of August. After that, we have a tentative plan of taking a break between summer and fall by visiting our 50th state of Hawaii — we are super excited about that! Upon getting back we should be chasing fall colors in Colorado and the PNW as a whole. We don’t have an exact order of business just yet, but we will be planning that soon. We can’t wait for pumpkin spice lattes and fall foliage!
