Texas

Galveston Island State Park — 14901 FM 3005, Galveston, TX 77554, 409-737-1222, 

Galveston Island State Park offers plenty of activities: swimming, fishing, birdwatching, and hiking, just to mention a few. While the beachside area of the park (south of FM 3005) is closed for renovations until 2021, the bayside (north of FM 3005) is open, with a 20-site campsite available. The campground has water and 50/30-amp hookup, and restrooms with showers about 150 yards away. Note: Only two vehicles are allowed per site and at least two wheels of a vehicle must fit on the paved parking site. Weekly and monthly rates are available from November to February, and reservations can be made online or by phone at 512-389-8900. Fees are $20 nightly plus the daily entrance fee.

Louisiana

Grand Isle off the coast of Louisiana serves as a breakwater between the Gulf and the network of inland channels that connect to the bayou tributaries of the Mississippi River. A favorite spot for deep-sea salt-water fishing, the park is also ideal for swimming, thanks to the warm Gulf waters. The park has a 2.5-mile nature trail and plenty of spots for birdwatching, with A Birder’s Guide to Louisiana identifying over 100 areas for birding throughout the state. The park has 49 premium pull-through campsites with water and electrical hookup—one is ADA- compliant—and reservations can be made online or by phone at 1-877-CAMP-N-LA (1-877-226-7652). Mississippi

Buccaneer State Park — 1150 South Beach Boulevard, Waveland, MS 39576, 228-467-3822, buccaneerstatepark@wfp.ms.gov

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina’s high winds and tidal surge completely destroyed the structures, waterpark and support facilities that were located at Buccaneer State Park. In less than a decade, the park’s reconstruction was completed, and visitors can now once again fully enjoy its beautiful natural setting as well as all its amenities. The park has 206 premium campsites with full amenities including sewer, and 70 additional campsites open on a limited basis with only water and electricity. Details on amenities are available here. Alabama

With two miles of beaches, 496 improved full – hookup campsites with paved pads along with 11 primitive sites and white sand and rolling surf, Gulf State Park is a popular destination. The RV sites are large enough to accommodate pullouts, with 11 modern air-conditioned bathhouses, laundry facilities, and a camp store on the campground. In addition to the swimming pool, tennis/pickleball courts, and other activities, the park has a 25-mile-plus paved Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail, with bikes available for rent. Florida

How can you resist a place described as being on the sugar-white beaches of the Emerald Coast? That’s where Camp Gulf RV Park is located, on Florida’s panhandle just steps from the beach. The premier RV sites are 20 feet wide and (suitable for all size rigs), and come equipped with water and electric, with four price levels for RV sites. A honey wagon service is provided for an additional charge. (Note: Pets are not permitted due to county and beach health codes.) The park has a commercially-equipped laundry facility open 24 hours a day, and three bathhouses including one with two rooms to allow for washing children and for those needing assistance.
