nuCamp RV Gives Back
More than 400 volunteers gathered here at nüCamp RV to support a cause that is near and dear to our hearts – Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), an organization providing meals to starving and malnourished children around the world. While several of us have participated in Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pack events in the past, this was the first time we hosted one in Northeast Ohio. Hosts of Mobile Pack events provide volunteers, commit to funding and packing at least 100,000 meals and have a large facility to pack the meals. In exchange, Feed My Starving Children sends a crew and truck full of supplies. Why do we pack these meals by hand? FMSC does not use machines to package the meals because they realize the personal, impactful experience created by packing the meals by hand. It transforms an experience from just ‘something good to do’ into something deeply personal.
Our employee lunchroom was temporarily transformed into an FDA-approved food packing facility, where volunteers hand packed each meal. In just two days, our team of volunteers hand packed 108,864 meals. Made up of nüCamp RV employees, friends, family and community members, we worked four shifts to pack the meals – enough to feed 298 children for a year. “Food is one of our most basic human needs, yet each year thousands of children are hungry and dying from starvation and related disease,” said Scott Hubble, our CEO. “We are working with Feed My Starving Children to help get food to people who are hungry and improve their lives.”
Participating in a Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pack event is a powerful and fun way to serve others, and we hope our work with Feed My Starving Children inspires others to do more and help others in need. Here at nüCamp RV, our leaders and employees practice a servant leadership philosophy. Servant leadership is a leadership philosophy that believes the most effective leaders strive to serve others.
