nuCamping in the Smoky Mountains

Imagine starting your morning with a cup of coffee and a view of the sun rising above the Great Smoky Mountains.

That daydream was a reality at the Smoky Mountain TAB Rally.

Held April 11-15, the Smoky Mountain Rally takes place at Little Arrow RV Resort in Townsend, Tennessee, which is just two minutes from the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. It’s the ideal location for nature enthusiasts hoping to engage in some hiking and see the beauty the mountains have to offer.

This year was the inaugural event with 70 teardrops and 110 attendees gathering at the resort for a week filled with fun. Campers enjoyed a cornhole tournament and a themed party (this time Honky Tonk) that have become a staple at nuCamp Rallies with Mandy and Kendrick. Other activities included campfire chats, trailer tours, a BBQ cook-off, and discussions such as Tech Talks and roadside assistance tips.

Experiencing a rally for the first time

Two nuCamp team members attended the event — Jill from Marketing and David from R&D. This was a first-time rally experience for both Jill and David!

The rally left an amazing impression on Jill and David. Having the opportunity to meet nuCamp owners was an incredible experience, and they’re excited to do it again at uCamp in June!

Mandy and Kendrick chose the perfect location for the event. The campground was beautiful, and being close to Cade’s Cove allowed you to see wildlife of all kinds.

David brought along his family with him including his two daughters (1 and 4 years old). The Miller family extended their trip to allow for more sightseeing.

“Our family immensely enjoys the mountains and the wilderness, so we made a family vacation out of the trip,” David said. “We traveled down the weekend before the rally and enjoyed hiking through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.”

Despite the rain on Tuesday, David and Jill were able to visit nuCampers during the trailer tours — a highlight of the event for both of them. Many campers were hanging out under awnings to shelter from the rain and were eager to show off their decor or modifications to their trailers.

It’s a completely different experience seeing someone’s unit at a campground than it is seeing a newly built unit at the factory.

“It was amazing interacting with all of the people. You get to see people one-on-one — some even have snacks to share,” Jill added with a laugh. “You can see how they have made their camper their own. Our nuCamp community is so creative and knowledgeable.”

“Campers are willing to show you what they have done to make traveling easier on them,” Jill added. “There are many things planned for the campers during the week to enjoy and learn from.”

nuCamp sponsored a catered dinner Wednesday night of BBQ pork and chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans with salad and rolls. The dinner is nuCamp’s way of showing our appreciation to the nuCamp owner’s community. It’s our amazing owners that sets nuCamp apart from other RV manufacturers. We are so thrilled to have these additional rallies to allow more people to experience nuCamp rallies.

If you have yet experienced a rally, the next nuCamp Rally with Mandy and Kendrick will be TABorado Oct. 12-16. While the rally is sold out, there are always last-minute cancellations, and the waiting list isn’t very long, Mandy said.

Registration for the 2023 Smoky Mountain TAB Rally will be June 1 at noon CT, and registration for the Terlingua TAB Rally will also be held soon. Mandy and Kendrick are also looking to add two new rallies in the future in the Northeast and the Northwest, so stay tuned for those!
