How to Winterize Your TAB in 7 Steps

(This post is for the TAB 320 U/S. If you own a CS/CS-S, please click here for your winterizing instructions.)

Winter is coming. (Game of Thrones reference? Yes. Still relevant? Yes.) If you want your TAB Teardrop Camper to survive the winter, you’re gonna want to make sure you successfully winterize your TAB. Winterizing your TAB may seem complicated, but it’s actually pretty easy. Just follow the steps below and you’ll be all set!

*Please note: If you have indoor storage that stays above freezing, you do not have to winterize your camper.

How to Winterize Your TAB

  1. Open drain valves, faucets, and shower valves to allow water to drain from the system.
  2. Keep the drain valves and faucets open and attach the “Blow Out Plug” (see figure 1.1) to the city water connection. Attach the air supply to blow out the water from the system, apply 30psi of pressure to the system.
  3. Close all the faucets and position the valves to “Winterization Mode” as shown (see figure 1.2) to bypass the Alde Heat & Water System. We highly recommend that you bypass the Alde Heating system – choosing to not do so will result in having to thoroughly flush the Alde System when you take your trailer out of storage to prevent damage to the hot water system of the Alde.
  4. Pour 4-5 gallons of RV antifreeze into the fresh water tank and open each faucet until antifreeze starts coming out of the faucet. Continue going through the trailer until you winterized all faucets, then flush the toilet until you see the antifreeze.
  5. Pour some antifreeze down each drain to fill the drain traps. You will need around .25 Gallons for a sink trap and .50 Gallons for a shower drain.
  6. Drain out the antifreeze from the black and grey tanks.
  7. Wah-lah! You’re done!
